A death mask is a likeness of a person's face after their death, usually made by taking a plaster cast or wax impression from the corpse. This mask is of Frenchman Blaise Pascal (19 June 1623–19 August 1662) a mathematician, physicist, inventor, writer and Catholic theologian. This later copy circa 1900 is made of plaster. The mask can stand alone or be hung on a wall; the wire hook is included. There is minor wear to the face with a water mark on the right eye lid.

A computer programming language is named after Pascal and in the 2017 game Nier; Automata which has multiple characters named after famous philosophers, there is one, a sentient pacifistic machine named Pascal.
