With a clear wax applied to the beech wood and newly upholstered seats in a black and white diamond pattern, these chairs with their angular arms and legs are very much in the style of René Gabriel and signify the period of French 'Reconstruction' (1945-1955). This is the type of emergency furniture provided to victims of bombings after WW2. Designers in the 1950s were looking for functional, sober and elegant furniture. Sold as a pair.
