A stunning French cherry wood bread board or plate. Hand carved and lovingly cared for, the surface of the board is smooth with no cutting marks. The words 'Donnez vous notre pain quotidien' translated as 'Give yourself our daily bread' are carved around the edge, with an ear of wheat completing the circle.
Cherry is renowned among woodworkers for its colour and aging process. It starts out a light pink and like this board darkens over time to a rich reddish brown hue with a lustrous patina.
There has been a repair to reverse side of board.
