This is one of four framed comic book art prints, circa 2000s, for sale from the ‘Adventures of Blake and Mortimer’, a comic book series created by Belgian cartoonist and author Edgar P Jacobs (1904-1987). The comic strip was pre-published from 1946-49 in Le Journal de Tintin starting with ‘The Secret of the Swordfish’. This series was later published as an album and this print is of the album cover of volume 3.
The genre includes science fiction, adventure and espionage, with the series chronicling the adventures of Captain Francis Blake, a former Royal Air Force pilot turned director of MI5, the British counterintelligence service, and his friend Professor Philip Mortimer, a specialist in nuclear physics and one of the UK's foremost scientists. The series stopped on the death of Edgar P Jacobs, but Blake and Mortimer's adventures were relaunched in 1996, with the series continuing with an ever-changing team of writers and artists.
Caption translation - Shaving the waves in the manner of a speedboat, the 'Swordfish' goes up the line of the destroyers, pulverizes them one after the other and leaves in its wake only burning wrecks.
