A pair of hand decorated shell cases crafted into candle sticks. Both have detailed repousse, chased and punched work, carried out with a hammer, screwdriver and nails of varying sizes. They have a pattern of ribbons and baubles above a fluted base. Dated August 1909 and January 1915.
Often called 'Trench Art', soldiers crafted these whilst on rest and recuperation to take home as a memento. Locals also crafted and sold them as souvenirs. Price stated is for the pair.
